Creating a Project

Creating a project sets up a new, independent knowledge base with its own portal, categories, articles, and team members. The process is a two-step wizard: first you pick a subscription plan, then you name your project.

Who can use this?

Any logged-in user can create a project, up to their account limit. The default limit is 5 project per user. If you have reached your limit, you will see: "You have reached the maximum limit of ... projects."

How to use it

Step 1 — Choose a plan:

1. Go to Projects in the navigation menu, then click New Project.

2. You are shown a list of available subscription plans with their prices and limits (articles, storage, team members).

3. Click Select next to the plan you want.

Step 2 — Name your project:

After selecting a plan, you fill in the project details:

1. Fill in the form:

  • Project Name — the internal name displayed in the admin panel. Example: `ACME Corp Help Center`.
  • Custom Domain — a unique short identifier for your public portal URL. Must contain only lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens. Example: `acme-help`. Your portal will be available at `/base/acme-help`.
  • Language — the default language for the public portal content.

2. Click Create Project.

3. You are redirected to the project list. The new project is automatically selected as your active project.

Limits and constraints

You cannot create a project if you have reached your account limit. The error message shown is: "You have reached the maximum limit of N projects."
The custom domain must be unique across the entire platform. If the one you chose is already taken: "This custom domain is already in use by another project."
A subscription is created automatically for the project when it is created. You can review it in Billing > Subscription.
