Project is a self-contained knowledge base. Everything in FastKnowledge lives inside a project: categories, articles, team members, settings, and the public portal your readers visit.
You can have multiple projects — for example, one for your product documentation, one for your internal wiki, and one for a client's help center. Each project is completely independent.
Who can use this?
All logged-in users can have projects. The maximum number of projects you can create depends on your account limit (the default is 5 projects per user).
Key things to know about projects
- One active project at a time — the platform always works in the context of one project. A project selector in the navigation lets you switch between your projects. Your last selected project is remembered as your default.
- Custom domain — each project gets a unique custom domain (a short identifier like `my-company-help`). This becomes part of the portal URL: `/base/my-company-help`.
- Language — each project has a language setting that affects the public portal.
- Access type — a project can be Public (anyone can read the portal without logging in) or Private (only pre-authorized readers can access it).
- Subscription — each project has a subscription plan that determines how many articles, how much storage, and how many team members it can have.
Project roles
Everyone who works inside a project has a role:

Switching between projects
If you belong to multiple projects, you can switch between them:
1. Click the project name in the navigation bar (or go to Projects in the menu).
2. Click Select next to the project you want to work in.
3. The platform reloads in the context of that project. All categories, articles, and settings shown will belong to that project.
The selected project is saved as your default and will be pre-selected on your next login.
